My work as a process is an outpouring of self as much as it is a reflection on the world at large. Influenced by both conceptual and surrealist technique, the works I create aim to release and actualise feelings, dreams and thoughts I find difficult or impossible to verbalise. Throughout various media including photography, film, illustration, and painting I combine, distort, and create imagery which I connect with strong emotions, memories and dreams. By the viewing and reinterpretation of these images, I learn both more about my possible inner self, and reinterpret my own thoughts and feelings in a different context. Keeping my works vague visually is important as by being open to much interpretation, when received by other viewers these works are transformed again by the viewers interpretation, and transcend a singular meaning. The processes are actively inspired by the methods used by cognitive behavioural therapy; capturing and fleshing out the negative, questioning its origin and legitimacy, and transforming it into something positive.
